用了半年終於讀完那本 “Arbella: England’s Lost Queen”，接著打算讀 Alison Weir 的 “The Six Wives of Henry VIII”（話說我已有三本不同作者的「Six Wives 著作」，包括 Alison Weir, Antonia Fraser 和 David Starkey，而相關著作如 Joanna Denny 的 “Anne Boleyn” 和 “Katherine Howard” 以及 Eric Ives 的 “The Life and Death of Anne Boleyn” 更是多不勝數……），閱讀進度還沒踏入正題，卻剛好有一個我從來不曾留意的小發現。
話說 Henry VIII 的第一任妻子 Katherine of Aragon（在本家西班牙名為 Catalina），相信大家也知道她是西班牙 Aragon 的國王 Ferdinand 和 Castile 女皇 Isabella 的幼女吧，原來她是以其外曾祖母（Isabella of Castile 的祖母） Katherine Plantagenet 命名的。至於這位 Katherine，其實是 John of Gaunt 與第二任妻子 Constance of Castile 所生的女兒－－當時身為 Castile 公主的 Constance 因競爭皇位引致內戰多年，最終妥協把女兒嫁給獲得皇位的 John I 的兒子 Henry III，曲折地遂了繼承皇位的心願。而 Katherine 的名字，卻源自其父 John of Gaunt 的婚外情對象，也就是他的第三任妻子 Katherine Swynford……
Katherine Swynford 和 Katherine of Aragon，這兩個在英格蘭歷史上大名鼎鼎的女子，原來有這樣的淵源啊！意想不到呢！
